Following the relocation of all hospital services to the new Gold Coast University Hospital at 1 Hospital Boulevard, Southport, demolition of the previous Gold Coast Hospital at 98-136 Nerang Street, Southport is now underway.
Demolition of the hospital will free up the Gold Coast Hospital site for new commercial development opportunities within the Southport Priority Development Area.
Rosenlund Contractors has been awarded the contract to demolish the Gold Coast Hospital comprising 20 buildings on 3.4 hectares between Nerang, Little High and Queen streets at Southport. Demolition of the site will be managed responsibly to ensure minimal disruption to the surrounding community and businesses.
Above-ground demolition works are expected to be complete by July 2015, with total remediation of the site to be completed late-2015. The site office (Accommodation Block 2) will remain in place until in-ground remediation works for the site near completion.
