2014-2015 Indigenous Local Government Sustainability Program (ILGSP)

The aim of the 2014-15 Indigenous Local Government Sustainability Program (ILGSP) is to assist those Indigenous councils that have historically received the Australian Government's Municipal and Essential Services (MUNS) program grants with staff transition and skills development needs. 2014-15 ILGSP will assist Indigenous councils prepare for the impact of the reduction in revenue resulting from the Australian Government's discontinuation of the MUNS program. Councils are to use ILGSP funds for transitional purposes which may include, but are not limited to, re-skilling and redeployment of staff into other municipal service positions.

ILGSP is one-off funding and the state government will not be offering any additional recurrent funding to replace the Australian Government's MUNS program.

There will be other funding available over the next three years from the Indigenous Local Government Sustainability Program 2015-18. The Department will consult with Indigenous councils regarding the use of this funding.
