Dispute resolution banner

Disputes and enforcement issues will always arise within the planning and development system, so it is important strong and accessible dispute resolution methods and enforcement powers are in place.

Queensland's dispute resolution system is already well respected and in the new system will continue to provide two main avenues for managing disputes – the Planning and Environment Court and the Development Tribunal.

The Planning Act 2016 and Planning and Environment Court Act 2016 establish:

  • offences and enforcement procedures
  • powers for the Planning Minister to intervene and review decision-making processes
  • means of resolving disputes when parties disagree about decisions.
